Malkara - Malkara - Малгара - Μάλγαρα
Malkara, a settlement where Yoruks were settled during the Ottoman period and where the culture of Ahi has taken root, has been a pioneer in agriculture and animal husbandry with fertile farmland. In addition to agricultural production, dairy products, food industry, and agricultural machinery production are among the city's important income sources.
The fertility of its soil being above the Turkish average provides significant advantages in the mentioned industries. The Organized Industrial Zone in the district was designed as a place specialized in food industry with a cluster structure; however, due to lack of expected interest, the need to transform it into a general Organized Industrial Zone has been acknowledged.
Malkara is one of the significant places in the region in dairy and dairy products production. Although there are many companies in this area, it is observed that branding has not been fully achieved in Malkara.
The promotion of the city, located on the Istanbul-Canakkale road, can further accelerate its development. Moreover, efforts made by irrigation associations to start irrigated agriculture in Malkara have the potential to make a significant contribution to the added value derived from agriculture in the region.
Malkara is 56 km away from Tekirdag province, and is bordered by Uzunkopruü to the northwest, Hayrabolu to the northeast, Sarkoy to the southeast, Gelibolu to the south, and Kesan to the west. With a surface area of 1,149 km2, it is the largest district of Tekirdag province.
There are no high mountains or valleys in the district. The land is generally eroded, with the hills appearing as a plateau with semi-plain characteristics. The Tekir Mountains, the most important mountain range of Tekirdag province, are 25 km away from Malkara. These mountains extend in the southern part of the district, in the Tekirdag-Gelibolu direction. The district borders end near the village of Cimendere. Ganos Mountain is the most important elevation of the Tekir mountain range.
Malkara remained under Gelibolu until 1870, when it was connected to Tekfurdag Sanjak (Tekirdag) under Edirne province. According to some records, Malkara became a district in 1880.
The district is also extremely rich in underground minerals. The Thrace region's most important lignite coal deposits are located in this region. The most important mineral in Malkara's underground resources is lignite coal. Half of the district's surface area is subject to mining licenses, and within these licensed areas, numerous enterprises, large and small, continue coal production. Some mines produce coal using open-pit mining methods, while others use the closed-pit gallery method. All of these operations are privately owned. The coal produced is marketed to the Thrace region and Istanbul. Coal plays a crucial role in the district's economy.

Don't let them build houses on high, high hills
Don't let them give their daughters to distant lands
Let them not look down upon the only one, the mother

Let it be known to the flying birds as well
 I miss my mother
Both my mother and my father
 I miss my village

If my mother had a sail, she would open it and come
If my father had a horse, he would ride it and come
If my siblings knew the roads, they would come

Let it be known to the flying birds as well
 I miss my mother
Both my mother and my father
 I miss my village
