Trakyanet is a Türkiye-based online publication providing information about the historical, geographical, cultural, social and economic structure of Thrace, as well as the cities, settlements, tourism assets, institutions, statistics, news and multimedia content related to the region.

Trakyanet's publishing scope covers Eastern Thrace, including Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ, as well as the Çatalca and Silivri districts of Istanbul and the Gelibolu and Eceabat districts of Çanakkale; Western Thrace, including the Evros, Rhodope and Xanthi regions; and Northern Thrace, including the Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Kardzhali, Smolyan and Pazardzhik regions.

Published information is kept as up to date as possible in line with new data and reliable sources. In addition to current content, historical documents, maps, photographs and similar materials are also used; materials related to Thrace held in Ottoman, Turkish, Russian, Bulgarian, Greek, Serbian and other archives, libraries and museum collections are researched.

Our Sources and Publishing Principles

When preparing content, priority is given to information published by official institutions and organisations. Academic publications, archives, libraries, museums, local authorities, private organisations, printed publications, news sources, historical documents and, where appropriate, other publicly accessible sources are also researched. For content concerning regions outside Türkiye, particular care is taken to use official institutions, archives, museums, libraries and other reliable sources in the relevant countries.

Where information from different sources conflicts, priority is given to official, academic or otherwise verifiable sources. Where differing views or narratives exist on historical subjects, these are evaluated as far as possible together with their respective sources.

Although care is taken to ensure the accuracy and currency of published content, information that may change over time, particularly historical information, details concerning institutions and businesses, transportation information, prices, contact details and similar data, may become outdated. Photographs, Documents and Multimedia Content

A significant portion of the photographs, videos, illustrations, maps and other multimedia materials used on the site consists of materials prepared for Trakyanet or produced directly by us. Materials available from archives, museums, libraries, public institutions, organisations and other sources may also be used, taking into account their applicable terms of use and rights status.

The fact that a material is available online or in a publicly accessible archive does not, by itself, mean that it is free from copyright protection. When using works and materials belonging to third parties, applicable legislation, licence conditions, permissions and relevant exceptions are taken into account; source and rights-holder information is provided where reasonably possible.

This section provides access to pages concerning the cities of Eastern Thrace, Western Thrace and Northern Thrace within Trakyanet's publishing scope, as well as their districts, towns, villages, neighbourhoods and other settlements.

Statistics

This section contains statistics prepared using data published primarily by the Turkish Statistical Institute, as well as ministries, public institutions and other official sources. It includes numerous subjects such as population, migration, economy, agriculture, tourism, health, education, transportation and election results.

Thrace

This section contains research and informational content on a wide range of topics relating to Thrace, particularly its history, geography, administrative structure, culture, education and healthcare structure, economic life, press, sports, transportation and people associated with the region.

Tourism

This section presents information on Thrace's historical monuments, museums, natural areas, recreation areas, beaches and other places of interest, together with regional tourism and cultural values such as local cuisine, traditions, clothing culture, festivals and events.

Accommodation

This section provides information about hotels, motels, guesthouses, apartments, hostels, holiday villages, public guesthouses and other accommodation establishments operating in Thrace. Information may include location, contact details, transportation and services offered, together with links to the establishments or third-party reservation services where appropriate. Trakyanet is not a party to reservation transactions; reservations and sales are carried out between the relevant establishment or service provider and the visitor.

Current developments concerning Thrace are brought together in this section by following official announcements, news sources, local sources and other verifiable publications.

Although Trakyanet publishes from Türkiye, it also provides content concerning the parts of Thrace located within the borders of Bulgaria and Greece. For this reason, the site is prepared in multiple languages. The currently supported publication languages are:
