Vize - Vize - Виза - Βιζύη
Vize is a settlement where history and nature meet with its ancient city center that it has hosted for many years, and the coastal strip Kiyikoy that has not yet been fully discovered on the Black Sea coast. With its unpolluted nature and calm air, Vize applied to become a Cittaslow Slow City and in a short time became the second important district in Turkey to receive this title after Seferihisar. The great efforts of the municipality, other public institutions and city residents in these studies constitute an important advantage for the development of Vize.
In the city where agriculture and animal husbandry are important sources of income, newly started tourism initiatives around Kiyikoy also play an important role in terms of socio-economic development. Its unpolluted nature also allows organic farming in Vize.
The financing of new projects in the city with local initiatives from external sources, the festival held regularly every year, the studies carried out by institutions regarding the promotion of the city's values and the ongoing ancient city excavations in the city have led to significant changes in the city's appearance. With its Hagia Sophia Church, an important ancient theater known in Turkish Thrace, rock churches, monastery, Thracian Tumuli, castle walls, fountains, unpolluted streams and forests, the city is a candidate to be a tourism destination at least as ambitious as the Ancient City of Ephesus.
It is a district of Kirklareli province in the Thrace part of the Marmara Region. The altitude in the district center is 180 meters (Cumhuriyet Square). The district is surrounded by the Black Sea to the east, Tekirdag to the south, Luleburgaz to the southwest, Pinarhisar to the west and Demirkoy to the north.
The district lands, consisting of low areas dissected by river valleys, are located in the eastern part of the province. The Istranca Mountains (Yildiz Mountains) extending in a northwest-southeast direction divide the district in two. The waters originating from the eastern slopes of this mountainous area, whose altitude approaches 400 meters within the district borders, reach the Black Sea, while those from the western slopes reach the Aegean Sea. The main rivers flowing into the Black Sea are the Pabuc and Kazan streams.
The Ergene River, one of the main branches of the Meric River that flows into the Aegean Sea, originates in the Sogucak and Anadere districts. The parts of the Istranca Mountains, especially those facing the Black Sea, are covered with oak and beech forests.
