Demirköy - Demirkoy - Малък Самоков - Ντεμιρκιόι
Demirkoy is a small-populated green settlement center located on the mountain range called Istranca or Yildiz at an altitude of 400 meters and where those who want to go to Longoz forests and Igneada, one of the natural beauties on the Black Sea coast, have to stop by.
Forest products and agricultural production are the most important sources of income for Demirkoy, which is located within a large forest area. There is a significant distance to be covered in terms of collecting and marketing wild forest products by preserving forested areas.
A visitor who comes to Demirkoy can immediately feel the calmness and the relaxing nature of the district; however, there are almost no facilities in the district center, which is a mandatory passage to go to Igneada, and the tradesmen in the district center mostly provide services according to the demand created by the villagers on the days they come to the district market.
Another important natural asset of Demirkoy is Igneada Town. Igneada is a settlement where sea tourism can be done on the Black Sea coast; where the phrase 'Green meets Blue' used for the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean comes true. Although there is one five-star hotel in Igneada, it is not possible to find social facilities or places to eat except for the district butchers and a few restaurants. Despite this, you can understand how high the quality of animal husbandry in the region is by tasting the meat products you choose in the villages of Demirkoy and Igneada, where they are cooked and served to you immediately.
Demirkoy is a small district of Kirklareli province on the Bulgarian border, where the sea blue meets the forest green on the European side of Turkiye.
Demirkoy is situated within the forests at an altitude of 400 meters in the Istranca (Yildiz) Mountains.
Demirkoy's economy is largely based on forestry. There are also small-scale agriculture, animal husbandry, and tourism.
The majority of the population came from the Balkans, with some from Anatolia.
While Fatih Sultan Mehmet was making preparations for the conquest of Istanbul, he also had an iron processing factory (Dökümhane) built in Demirkoy, where iron ore was abundant.
The 3 km-long Dupnisa Cave has a magnificent and imposing appearance with its stalactites, stalagmites, and wet and dry sections.
It has a unique beauty with its protected longoz (flooded) forests, streams, lakes and natural wildlife, which has a very important place in the world.
It became a district in 1914.
It has 15 villages and 1 town.
