The Canakkale Epic Presentation Center is located in the Kabatape area. It was designed to ensure that the Canakkale Wars are remembered forever and to contribute to the development of this spirit by passing on the spirit of Canakkale to the new generations. The center was opened to visitors on June 7, 2012.
The Canakkale Epic Presentation Center is a war museum that tells the story of the Canakkale Wars both chronologically and thematically. The museum building is entirely underground to create a sense of martyrdom. Two memorial walls extending opposite each other at the entrance of the building symbolize the Asian and European shores of the Canakkale Strait, while the light and dark colors of the walls symbolize the themes of war and peace. The three columns at the top of the dark-colored wall represent the faith, courage, and patriotism of the Turkish soldier, while the simplicity of the wall surfaces is explained as the silence and loneliness of death.
In 11 separate reenactment rooms, some with movable platforms, important segments of the Gallipoli Campaign are presented to the visitor through a 65-minute audiovisual show. Additionally, for foreign visitors, narration is provided via headphones in 7 different languages (English, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Italian, and Arabic).
In the museum halls, which consist of two floors, all aspects of the war are explained to visitors with the support of wax figures, dioramas, and models.
The museum, which displays war objects, uniforms, and equipment found on the battlefield and reflecting the war period, each with its own story, also features real trenches and military vehicles in its open landscaped areas.
The most interesting exhibit in the museum is the bloodstained uniform of Captain Esref Efendi, who attained martyrdom during the Gallipoli Campaign. The patient referral slip attached to his jacket when he was brought to the hospital wounded, and the epaulets donated by his family, are displayed together with the photograph of our martyr. In addition to the wax statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who rose to the rank of colonel during the Canakkale Battles, and the display case containing his personal belongings, the diorama area depicting the bayonet charge and the aircraft models of that era attract great interest from visitors.
