The Corlu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the first chambers in Turkiye. The Edirne Province Yearbooks state that there was an Agricultural Chamber in Corlu from 1870 onwards.
In the 1307 (1891) Edirne Province Yearbook, the Chamber is referred to as the Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture and Industry. According to this yearbook, the Chamber's administrators consisted of President Sakir Bey, and members Hasan Efendi, Garamet Efendi, Yanako Efendi, and Arakel Efendi.
In the early years of the Republic, the Chamber continued its activities as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. After a period of inactivity, the Chamber was re-established in 1958.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which holds an important place in Corlu's economic life, is increasing in number in parallel with Corlu's development.
The district's economy is based on industry and agriculture. Livestock farming has lost its importance compared to the past. Corlu and its surroundings are among the regions in our country where industrialization is developing most rapidly.
The establishment of large industrial facilities in the district center and its immediate surroundings, the passage of the D-100 Highway, the TEM Highway and the railway through the district, the presence of the DHMI Corlu Civil Airport with a cargo transportation capacity of (10,000) aircraft/year and (600,000) passengers/year, and the preference of our compatriots who emigrated from abroad (from Bulgaria) to stay with their relatives who came earlier due to the conditions of the region, are among the reasons why migration to the district is increasing day by day.
