Due to its accessibility by land, sea, and air, Corlu is a dynamic center of Turkish industry. The Corlu leather industry has been conducting environmentally conscious and respectful production activities in this center since the 1960s, and since April 1997, it has been serving the national economy as the Leather Organized Industrial Zone.
Today, Corlu Leather Organized Industrial Zone, established on an area of 130 hectares, has become a very important industrial center that creates employment in the country's economy and exports to all corners of the world, carrying out 37% of Turkiye's leather production with its 118 leather factories and an annual processing capacity of 25,000,000 small animal hides and 50,000 tons of large animal hides. It contributes approximately 1,000,000,000 USD annually to the country's exports, both directly and indirectly.
Operating with the slogan of "Investing in Nature and People," Corlu Leather Industrialists switched to using natural gas, known as an environmentally friendly gas, in June 2003, thus preventing potential air pollution problems.
