The establishment of the Edirne Organized Industrial Zone began in 1994 with the formation of the Entrepreneurial Committee. Currently, the zone, covering 257 hectares of developed land, contains 93 industrial plots of various sizes, totaling 1,567,831.31 m². The zone is a mixed-use industrial zone, and production is permitted in various areas as determined by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

With the aim of establishing an Organized Industrial Zone in Edirne, the Entrepreneurial Committee, which met under the chairmanship of the Governor of Edirne, made the decision numbered 94/1 on February 4, 1994, together with:

  • Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Edirne Industrialists and Businessmen Association
  • Provincial Special Administration
  • Edirne Municipality
They formed the Edirne Organized Industrial Zone Entrepreneurial Committee.

In 1995, work actually started with the allocation of credit from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and infrastructure projects were prepared.

Because the 107-hectare area selected as the Organized Industrial Zone is outside the boundaries of Edirne Municipality, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with its letter dated June 22, 1995, transferred the Edirne Municipality Entrepreneurial Committee to the Edirne Organized Industrial Zone. He was expelled from the organization. With the decision of the Entrepreneurial Committee dated 12/03/2007 and numbered 2007/02, the Entrepreneurial Committee was reconstituted due to the transfer of shares of the Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Edirne Industrialists and Businessmen Association to the Edirne Provincial Special Administration.

By the end of 2006, the electricity infrastructure, sewage, rainwater and telecommunications infrastructure, and drinking water infrastructure were completed.

Representatives of firms that obtained business opening and operating licenses in 1/3 of the total number of parcels in the Organized Industrial Zone were included in the Entrepreneurial Committee and Board of Directors memberships with the election held in 2014.

In 2017, with the grant support of the Thrace Development Agency, a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 1000 m3/day consisting of chemical and biological units was commissioned and is providing service without any problems.

In 2018, the natural gas infrastructure was completed, and natural gas was used as an alternative energy source. It has been made available to industrialists.

In 2019, the zoning revision plan was completed and approved by the Ministry, and the total construction area, which was 50%, was increased to 70%.
