The Yilmaz Buyukersen Wax Sculpture Museum, featuring wax sculptures created by Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Prof. Dr. Yilmaz Buyukersen, is the first of its kind in Turkiye, following the "Madame Tussauds Museum" which first opened in Eskisehir and now exists in many countries around the world. The second museum is located in Corlu.
The Historical Municipality Building, constructed in 1903 as the Corlu Municipality building and restored and opened to the public in 2015, hosted many cultural and artistic activities until 2020. In 2020, the building began operating as the Corlu Yilmaz Buyukersen Wax Museum, where wax sculptures of famous people are exhibited.
The Corlu Yilmaz Buyukersen Wax Museum, which houses wax sculptures of 110 historical figures and local and foreign celebrities, features wax sculptures of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his family, as well as local and foreign statesmen, artists, and media members, which give visitors a sense of life and inspire admiration. The measurements of famous people were taken and special photographs were taken by Prof. The wax sculptures of Yilmaz Buyukersen, created with great effort over long hours by his team of artists, attract considerable attention from visitors with their lifelike appearance.
The Corlu Yilmaz Buyukersen Wax Sculpture Museum, where visitors can encounter lifelike replicas of famous personalities, holds significant importance as Corlu's first art museum.
The museum, which welcomes art-loving visitors, features wax sculptures of presidents, prime ministers, political party leaders, writers, scientists, theater and film actors, and vocal artists.
