Until the 1970s, the economic structure of Cerkezkoy district was based on agriculture. The main products were cereals and industrial crops. Today, agriculture constitutes 15% of the total population.
Cerkezkoy district has become one of Turkiye's largest industrial centers today.
The development of Cerkezkoy began with its inclusion in the "Regions Prioritized for Development" by the Council of Ministers' decision numbered 7/350 in 1971.
Within the scope of the Istanbul metropolitan plan, Cerkezkoy was adopted as an alternative, and after studying Cerkezkoy's geographical, geological, hydrographic, climatic, soil, vegetation, agricultural, commercial, economic and industrial conditions, the establishment of an Organized Industrial Zone in Cerkezkoy was approved by the Council of Ministers' decree numbered 7/6177 dated 29.03.1973. The administrative and social facilities of Cerkezkoy Organized Industrial Zone were completed in 1977.
Industrial establishments in Cerkezkoy are concentrated in the following sectors: textiles, rubber and plastics, paint and chemicals, metal and machinery, food, healthcare, mining, wood, electronics and white goods, construction materials, stationery, and automotive.
